‘Tis the Season

‘Tis the season to be jolly! This holiday season, give the gift of companionship and community throughout Chatham County. This year, Santa wants to extend a special invitation to you and yours for all of the festivities in the area. That’s right, Santa is coming to Chatham County!

13th Annual 5K Reindeer Run/Walk:

Run, Rudolph, run! Burn off those holiday calories at the 13th Annual 5K Reindeer Run/Walk! Lace up your running shoes, or hooves, on Saturday, December 9 at 8 a.m. Santa’s course begins on the paved trail of the Central Carolina Community College on the Pittsboro campus. Fly with fellow reindeer through the heart of historic Pittsboro and end right where you began. Interested in participating as a team? If you are not registering as an individual, you may register in teams of three people or more. Your team time will be the fastest thee times of your team members added together.

Don’t forget about the presents! Awards will be given in individual overall, individual age groups and team categories. Will you outrun Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen?

Rudolph’s Fun Run will be held on the same day for participants under 12 years old. This 1-mile run is free for runners, but registration is required.

The final deadline for registration is December 5 and only individual registrations will be accepted on December 9.

Breakfast with Santa:

Santa doesn’t just like cookies, he loves breakfast food too! Chatham County Parks and Recreation invites you to join them and Santa at Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro, NC on Saturday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration for all participants is $15 and includes free food, festive games, holiday crafts and of course, pictures with Santa himself. These are holiday memories you won’t want to miss out on! Did you know that Santa will visit over 90 million homes on Christmas Eve? That means that his sleigh travels about 671 million miles per hour!

Miracle on Hillsboro Street:

We all have known and loved the classic Miracle on 34th Street, but now, the Pittsboro Business Association is putting Santa on trial right on Hillsboro Street. On Saturday, December 17 at the Chatham County Courthouse, cheer for Kris Kringle and fellow performers as they hope for a miracle on Hillsboro Street!

With performances at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., seating will be limited so buying tickets in advance is encouraged. Visit Chatham Business Services, Pittsboro Toys, Reclamation Home Furnishings and Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store to get your tickets ahead of time! Admission is a $5 donation to benefit Chatham County Partnership for Children or five nonperishable food items to CORA Food Pantry. Admission for children under 6 is free.

Want your letter to Santa to be read at one of the performances? Drop it off at a Mailbox to Santa by December 15 at Pittsboro Toys, Reclamation Home Furnishings and Chatham County Library!

Siler City Christmas Parade:

“Here we come a caroling…” Have you started singing along yet? This year, the Siler City Christmas Parade will take place on Thursday, December 7 at 7 p.m. in downtown Siler City. Grab your Santa hat and Rudolph nose as you watch the parade travel down S. Chatham to Park Shopping Center.

Park your sleigh near the courtyard on Chatham Avenue to watch “The Hangout Worship Band” perform, experience the Annual Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m. and visit Santa after the parade!
