Distilling the North Carolina Way

If you haven’t been to Fair Game Beverage Company yet, you should! This new winery and distillery, located right in Pittsboro, just opened this summer and it’s fast on its way to becoming one of the best wineries around!

The Beverages:

Currently, FGBC offers a line of four different fortified wines, all made primarily from NC varieties of grapes and apples. For example, the Two Step is made from Haw River Valley grapes, and the Tipper includes a helping of aromatic scuppernong. North Carolina (and especially Chatham County) is infused into every drop. … Make that every delicious drop!

Beyond simply sourcing ingredients from North Carolina, FGBC adds a unique touch to each drink. House-grown sorghum, a member of the grass family similar to sugar cane, appears in the soon-to-be-released Sorghum Cane Spirit. FGBC also offers wines that have been fortified, an old tradition in which sailors added brandy to wine to halt the fermentation process and make the wine robust for travel in oak barrels across the ocean.

FGBC offers drinks beyond your typical beverages, and the uniqueness makes for a delicious and enjoyable way to relax.

Check out the Two-step White, Ferris Red, Apple Tipper and Scuppernong Tipper, by clicking on the links! Also, keep an eye out for the soon-to-be line of Spirits including Apple Brandy and Sorghum Cane Spirit.

Art Bazaar and Cocktail Night:

Don’t have time for a tour? FGBC is hosting an event soon, which makes for the perfect opportunity to get to know the owners! On Thursday, November 6, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., come out for a fun night of arts, crafts, classic music on vinyl, and specialty cocktails featuring FGBC wines. Make it a meal with grilled made-to-order pizzas from Bella Donna Italian Restaurant! Other local vendors will be there as well, so there’s no reason for you not to come!

Make sure to head to FGBC’s website for recipes, events and other NC locations. They are headquartered in Pittsboro, but you can still grab a bottle from places like Boone and Greensboro.
