New Hope Valley Railway – Ecology Day and Santa Trains

Pittsboro, NC – The New Hope Valley Railway, one of Chatham County’s most popular attractions, has several upcoming events over the next few weeks providing holiday fun and entertainment for the entire family.

New Hope Valley Ecology Day – November 7

Gather the family and head to New Hope Valley Railway this Sunday for their special Ecology Day event. Enjoy musical entertainment by featured artist Don Smith, dine on delicious NC barbecue at the Ole Time Barbecue stand, and browse the museum of railroad equipment from throughout North Carolina. Exhibits include cars and locomotives, a collection of historic memorabilia, and a six-hundred foot garden size model railway.

Trains leave at 11am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm, and 4pm. You should arrive at least 30 minutes before the train you plan to ride so as to allow time to park and get tickets. The trip to New Hill and return to Bonsal takes about an hour. The railroad operates open cars, rain or shine. Feel free to call to verify that trains are operating.

Santa Trains

Santa himself joins the railway for four days in December to bring in the season. A visit with Santa aboard a New Hope Valley Railway train has become a holiday tradition for many families in the Triangle area. December dates this year are:

  • Saturday December 4
  • Sunday December 5
  • Saturday December 11
  • Sunday December 12

Trains leave at 11am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm, and 4pm. Tickets are available ahead of time online for all train day events.
