Top 5 Attractions in Pittsboro

Pittsboro, NC – I’ve written about these places before. But if you’re new to the area, visiting for the day or thinking of relocating to Pittsboro, here are a few exemplary places to explore.

1. Downtown Pittsboro

Pittsboro traces its roots back to Revolutionary times. Explore downtown by foot, stopping in at quaint restaurants, fashionable boutiques and curious collectors shops and antique stores.

You could spend an hour downtown or all day. Some of my favorite places: S&T Soda Shoppe, French Connection and Virlie’s.

2. Carolina Tiger Rescue

Carolina Tiger Rescue, formerly the Carnivore Preservation Trust, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild.

Walk the cat walk! Your tour will take you on guided half-mile walk to meet some of the world’s most endangered species. Your guide will personally introduce you to tigers, caracals, servals, ocelots, binturongs, and kinkajous, explaining the rescue stories that brought them to Carolina Tiger Rescue and the issues that their kind face in the wild. The tour will last approximately 1 1/2 – 2 hours, depending on the group’s involvement.
