It’s N.C. Beer Month! Here Are the 12 Chatham County Shops Participating:

April is North Carolina Beer Month, which means this month is all about celebrating craft brews from right here in our state. As Chatham County residents know, the Piedmont area of N.C. has much to offer beer lovers, from local breweries to restaurants that serve home-brewed beer on tap.

Make sure you enjoy all the aspects of N.C. Beer Month by checking out these 12 participating organizations:

580 Craft Beer: Located in Pittsboro, 580 Craft Beer is a bottle shop packed full of craft beers, drafts, kegs, ciders and wine.

How they’re celebrating: Enjoy tastings throughout the month. Stay tuned for their N.C. Tap list all month long with special keg tappings each Friday.

Carolina Brewery & Grill: Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill is the oldest brewery in the Triangle. In addition to its award-winning beer (Carolina Brewery’s Flagship India Pale Ale won a Gold Medal in the 2006 Great American Beer Festival, and the Copperline Amber Ale is a Gold Medal winner in the World Beer Championships.), the brewery serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

How they’re celebrating: Join brewery staff every Saturday at 2 p.m. for free brewery tours at the Pittsboro brewpub. Tours include free samples and a behind the scenes look at how your favorite Carolina Brewery beers are made.

Chatham Marketplace: Chatham Marketplace is a co-operative business owned entirely by members of the community, which is more than 2,200 households. The store is located in Chatham Mills, a historic mill building that has been renovated to house a variety of arts, retail and office spaces.

How they’re celebrating: Stores are offering $1 off local six packs all month long.

Circle City Books: Circle City Books & Music buys and sells used, rare and unusual books, records and CDs. A charming little shop with its own unique selection of books, very knowledgeable staff, the bookstore is a place to browse, reflect, remember and be inspired.

How they’re celebrating: Be on the lookout for books about beer as your browse the bookstore shelves!

City Tap Bar: The City Tap in Pittsboro offers 10 beers on tap, and all are devoted to bringing you the best North Carolina craft beers. You can always expect to see Red Oak Lager (the house beer) and the rest of the handles vary with the seasons – lighter in the summer and darker in the winter. In addition to the drafts, City Tap carries about 25 different bottled beers from around the country and the world.

How they’re celebrating: The City Tap exists, in part, to celebrate N.C. Beer. Enjoy some of the local brews on tap whenever you drop by.

Fair Game Beverage Company: Frequent readers of the blog will recognize Fair Game Beverage Co. because I blog about them a lot! This Chatham County distillery and winery features N.C.-grown and produced wines, Apple Brandy, No’Lasses Sorghum Rum and Flying Pepper Infused Vodka Spirits.

How they’re celebrating: Fair Game Beverage Co. is offering NC beers alongside their specialty spirits during the month of April.

Farm Boy Farms: Farm Boy Farms was created to provide locally grown barley, wheat and hops to microbrewers and expert homebrewers of North Carolina.

How they’re celebrating: Take a Piedmont Farm Tour Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24, to see the source of all the delicious N.C. brews.

Fearrington House Restaurant, Fearrington Granary: The intimate dining rooms within the white-columned Fearrington House Restaurant welcome guests with exceptional service and a seasonally changing menu. They are the only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star restaurant in the U.S. to be Green Certified and to be ranked a top 10 restaurant in America, based on more than two million reviews by OpenTable diners.

How they’re celebrating: Enjoy $4 pints at the Fearrington Granary, and visit with friends while listening to live music at the Roost.

Paperback Plus: Paperbacks Plus! In Siler City, would have fit nicely with the other stores in the fictional Mayberry, from the Andy Griffith Show. The locals don’t run in, buy a book, and run out. They come to browse, to talk, to have a cup of coffee. Sometimes they forget to buy a book.

How they’re celebrating: Visit during Pittsboro’s Third Friday ArtWalk or any time during April to find books about beer.

Phoenix Bakery: Located on Hillsboro Street in Pittsboro, the Phoenix Bakery is a morning and afternoon bakery offering specialty cake services as well as freshly made baked goods.

How they’re celebrating: The bakery is offering a variety of beer breads and tastings throughout the month.

Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store: An icon in downtown Pittsboro, the Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store is a family-friendly, community-centered restaurant with a kitchen team trained in fine dining presenting quality, fresh, made-from-scratch lunches and dinners catering to varied tastes, interests and needs.

How they’re celebrating: Like City Tap, the Roadhouse has locally-brewed beer on tap all month long. Visit with a group of friends and spend a night enjoying the N.C. beer.

Vino!! Wine Shop: At Vino!! Wine Shop, staff provide the residents of Pittsboro and the surrounding areas with a rustic, homey location to purchase wine and specialty beer from all over the globe. At Vino!!, they like to say that the only criteria to shop is that you must like wine and/or beer!

How they’re celebrating: Granted, it’s not about beer, but be sure to enjoy wine tastings each Friday at the store!
