Pumpkin Fests and More in Chatham County
Pittsboro, NC – Halloween is one holiday everybody loves. It’s about more than just candy and costumes (although those are good).
Here’s a few ideas for ways to celebrate the Spooky Season outdoors.
Fearrington Village Pumpkin Fest
2000 Fearrington Village Center
Pittsboro, NC 27312
(919) 542-4000 or (800) 277-0130 (toll free)
Just a few miles from where I live in Monterrane is scenic Fearrington Village. They host an annual pumpkin festival with activities to delight the entire family.
Stroll the village paths and see spectacular pumpkins intricately carved by Fearrington’s gardeners and chefs (that’s sure to be cool).
Listen to live bluegrass music and browse the shops. Enjoy a family-style dinner at The Old Granary Restaurant. The kids will enjoy the spooky storytime at McIntyre’s Fine Books.
The Pumpkin Fest will be held this year on Friday, October 29th from 5-9 pm.
Ragan and Holly’s Pumpkin Patch
Corner of Hwy 751 & Lewter Shop Road, Apex
(919) 362-5800
If you’re looking for pumpkins and fall novelties, but sure to visit Ragan & Holly’s. Here you will find an already-gathered from the field pumpkin patch, Indian corn, hay bales, and corn stalks. Easy pickins!
Green Level Gourd Farm
3800 Green Level Rd.
Apex, NC 27523
(919) 387-7352
Take NC 64 east, across Jordan Lake and you’ll find the Green Level Gourd Farm. A fabulous place to bring younger children. They offer hayrides, a kid’s play area, face painting, donkey rides, crafts, and a small corn maze, as well as pumpkins and gourds to purchase.
Corn Mazes in Cary
Our friends over at CaryCitizen have a great list of corn mazes around the region.
Know Someplace?
If you know of a great pumpkin patch, corn maze, hayride or haunted house, especially in my neighborhood of Pittsboto and Catham County, drop me a note.
It’s time to get out and smell the fresh autumn air! Hope you and your entire family enjoy the fun fall activities this month.
