Siler City Spring Chicken Festival
There’s nothing like springtime in Siler City! But what happens when you bring a Chicken Festival into the mix? The first annual Spring Chicken Festival will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in downtown Siler City. A free event for all, you won’t want to miss the exciting attractions and tasty treats lining the streets of downtown.
The History:
In the 1980s, many residents of Siler City and its surrounding communities were familiar with the popular Chicken Festival. Reinvented by The Siler City Parks and Recreation Department, the festival is back and better than ever with a couple of new additions.
Spanning the majority of downtown, maybe we’ll all find out what really happens when the chicken crosses the road…
The Details:
It’s hard to say no to a food truck, let alone many food trucks in the same place! From food trucks, to a classic car exhibition, to multiple inflatable attractions, there’s fun for every age and interest. With more than 125 vendors to choose from for a variety of arts and crafts items, this is an ideal opportunity to start all that holiday shopping. Who says that Santa and the Easter bunny can’t shop together?
Along the way, don’t forget to make a pit stop in the beer garden, stocked full of craft beer. Presented by the Oasis Open Air Market from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., try a few new hoppy adventures.
Above all, literally, you won’t be able to miss the Ferris wheel or 28-foot rock wall. Get the best views of Chatham County from the top! Soccer darts and additional attractions will be located along East and West Second Street. All attractions are free of charge.
The Music:
Did someone say beach music? Live music will begin at 1 p.m. with the Sand Band, a featured group at the 2018 Carolina Beach Music Awards in North Myrtle Beach. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Siler City’s Nu-Blu takes the stage for the last few hours of the festival.
