Sure, the calendars just flipped into November, but the holiday season is on its way. With meals to prepare, plans to organize and gifts to purchase, get a head start with some creative shopping ideas, all local to Chatham County. Store-bought gifts are great, but try on local, try on handmade for size. Give the gift everyone will remember!

Holiday Art Classes – The Creative Goat:

Your Chatham County craft supply store, The Creative Goat in Pittsboro has everything you need to feel equipped for your holiday crafting. Offering a variety of crafting classes, learn how to stain, paint, crochet and stitch all season long. On Tuesday evenings from November 2 – November 16 at 6 p.m., sign up for Dixie Belle’s Make and Take classes.

On November 2, you’ll join a workshop in learning to paint wooden signs, all in the spirit of the holidays. On November 9, make your own Christmas stocking; now, there’s a holiday staple you can use year after year. Finally, on November, 16, experience the art of the Cricut in making the T-shirt of the season! Learn to cut the vinyl designs on the Cricut, press your design onto the shirt. Wear your specialized design home that evening! To keep the craft Tuesdays going, register for the workshop on November 23 at 6:30 p.m. to create your own Thanksgiving centerpiece. All other Tuesday evening workshops begin at 6 p.m. Registration prices may vary; however, materials are included in the price.

On Thursday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m., try your hand at hoop art! What is hoop art? Using a wooden hoop as the border, create intricate embroidery designs to display how you choose! A great class for beginners and experts alike, create a Christmas-themed embroidery design for gifting or for keeping. The choice is yours!

For the grand finale, the 18’’ Merry Christmas Vintage Truck Sign – Sip, Stain and Paint will take place on Thursday, November 18 at 6 p.m. Unwind as you bring your vintage truck sign to life, and bring something to sip on as you go!

The Christmas magic returns to Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park on Saturday, November 6. Located at 4221 Silk Hope Road in Siler City, shop from local vendors from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. That’s a full day of shopping for jewelry, handbags, beauty products, kitchen items, wreaths, handmade soaps and lotions, woodwork, baskets, scarves and more. With so many gifts to choose from, don’t plan on leaving empty handed.

Makers Market Series:

Keep on shopping local at the Makers Market Series at MOSAIC at Chatham Park in Pittsboro, kicking off on Saturday, November 13. Enjoy music, a market with craft vendors and refreshments. The music starts at 1 p.m. with sounds by Counterclockwise String Band. The Makers Market, hosted by Pop-Up Raleigh, will take place from 1 – 5 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for the music and plenty of holiday cheer!
