Farm to Fork Picnic Triangle 2023

Yes, you can taste the difference. When it’s grown in North Carolina, when it’s harvested in North Carolina, it’s that much better. On Sunday, June 4 from 4-7 p.m., Fearrington Village in Pittsboro will host the 2023 Farm to Fork Picnic. A collaboration of more than 40 local chefs and farmers, 16 beverage producers and 11 artisans, your attendance supports the next generation of food and agricultural leaders. About the Cause

For more than 15 years, the Farm to Fork Picnic has brought the joy of culinary arts to the Triangle area. Since 1974, North Carolina has lost more than 40,000 of its farms and ranks second in the nation in potential agricultural land lost by 2040. Proceeds from the Farm to Form Picnic support the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), which develops and promotes just and equitable food and farming systems. These systems work to conserve natural resources and serve communities by improving health outcomes and economic opportunities.

CEFS is a partnership of North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These institutions partner to create one of the nation’s most important centers for research, extension and education in sustainable agriculture and community-based food systems, leading the local foods movement. As the average age of a farmer is more than 58 years old, it is important more than ever that we encourage new generations of farmers and food system leaders.

Tastings

The food tastes even better, knowing it’s all for a good cause! Since 2007, the Farm to Fork Picnic joins farmers and chefs to create delectable bite-size dishes. Bon Appétit magazine said it best. This is “the country’s best all-you-can-eat feast”! Some of your neighborhood favorites will be plated, included Cafe Root Cellar, Postal Fish Company and The Fearrington House.
