A Chatham County Summer Camp Extravaganza!

Explore summer camp experiences in Chatham County, offering adventure, creativity and connection to nature. From Carolina Summer Sailing Camp on the waters of Jordan Lake to the holistic education programs of Clapping Hands Farm, there is an offering for every age and interest! These camps provide enriching opportunities for skill-building, camaraderie and lifelong memories, rooted in Chatham County.

Carolina Summer Sailing Camp

This is where adventure meets skill-building in the picturesque waters of Jordan Lake. Carolina Summer Sailing Camp offers immersive experiences for young sailors, ages 9 to 16, ready to navigate the open water. With a curriculum designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned sailors, participants embark on a journey of learning under the guidance and supervision of experienced instructors. The camp’s holistic approach focuses on mastering sailing techniques, all while building an appreciation for teamwork, leadership and environmental stewardship.

Hands-on activities and on-water excursions provide opportunities for campers to develop confidence on the water. Campers sail Optimist (Opti) and “420” sailboats on Jordan Lake, departing from Crosswinds Boating Center. There are three courses offered: Beginner, Intermediate and Intro to Racing.  Clapping Hands Farm

At Clapping Hands Farm in Pittsboro, summer camp programs are focused on holistic education and connection to nature. Offering weeklong, in-person camps for children, young adults and women, all camps are $325 per week, with the exception of Art Party camp. Register today!

Art Party Camp – June 10-14

A family camp for parents and young children, ages 2-8, Art Party instructors lead a vibrant array of visual art explorations, complemented by music and dance experiences from guest artists. Participants engage in finger painting, coloring, drawing, embroidery or sewing. Throughout the day, adults and children bond over shared experiences, while dedicated workshops cater to parents’ creative rejuvenation.

Stepping Stones Camp – June 24-28

This camp serves as a stepping stone for younger children, ages 5-9, transitioning to the “big kid camps.” Campers experience a condensed version of the regular day camp, familiarizing themselves with the environment, routine, campers and staff support.

Teen Everything Camp – July 8-12

Teen Everything Camp, for ages 13-19, offers a week of outdoor play, exploration and art. Each day features guest artists and a variety of choice classes, allowing participants to engage in a diverse range of activities aligned with individual preferences or interests.

Toys & Games Camp – July 22-26/August 5-9

Children, ages 7-13, will enjoy a week of playful fun and creative, cooperative games. With simple materials and boundless imagination, they will take on toy-making projects, ranging from traditional folk toys to hydraulic robots.

Carolina Dance Collaborative

In partnership with Carolina Dance Collaborative, Chatham County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources offers the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Dance Camp and Prince & Princess Dance Camp at the Chatham Grove Community Center. The Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Dance Camp, June 24-28, will allow campers, ages 4-6, to explore ballet, jazz and creative movement. The Prince & Princess Dance Camp, July 22-26, is offered for campers ages 6-10, interest in learning jazz, ballet and hip-hop.

For both camps, a Friday performance will be hosted for friends and family. Camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon each day. The cost of attendance is $150 per camper and registration is available online!

YMCA Day Camp at Pittsboro Elementary School

This traditional summer camp experience is filled with a diverse range of activities, from sports and games to arts and crafts. Campers, from kindergarten through eighth grade, experience a fun-filled week of physical activity, creativity and social interaction. With a focus on fostering personal growth and building friendships, the camp provides a supportive environment where children can learn new skills, explore their interests, and make lasting memories.

Camp time is from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and runs Monday through Friday. Register for one or multiple of the nine weeks!
