Holiday Cheer in Chatham: Parades, Parties and Plenty of Fun

The holidays are fast approaching, and Chatham County is gearing up for a season of festive fun! From parades and craft markets to community events and family-friendly activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join in the holiday spirit with these exciting events happening in December:

Get ready to kick off the holiday season with the Siler City Christmas Parade, happening on Thursday, December 5, in downtown Siler City. Presented by the Chatham Chamber of Commerce and the town of Siler City, with Chatham News & Record as the presenting sponsor, this annual event is one we look forward to all year long! 

• Date: Thursday, December 5
• Time: 7 p.m. 
• Location: The parade will follow its traditional route: starting down S. Chatham Avenue, turning right onto Beaver Street, then left onto S. Birch Street. From there, it will continue left onto W. Raleigh Street and end at the Park Shopping Center (Maxway), where it will disperse.

This year’s parade theme, “Songs of the Season“, will fill our streets with music as decorated floats, marching bands and community groups take part in the procession.

The event is free and open to the public, and afterward, enjoy complimentary photos with Santa to capture the magic of the night. Want to be part of the fun? Celebrate the season with a global twist at The Inn at Celebrity Dairy’s December Supper Club! Partnering with Circle City Supper Club, they’re serving up a 5-course dinner inspired by holiday food traditions from around the world. It’s the perfect way to enjoy delicious food, great company and the holiday spirit.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Pittsboro Boys & Girls Club, supporting local kids and families in our community.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 7, as MOSAIC at Chatham Park hosts its annual Holiday Market, an event that’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit! This festive gathering will showcase a curated selection of handmade goods, artisanal creations, farm-fresh offerings and more—celebrating the talents of local makers and growers.

• Date: Saturday, December 7
• Time: 12-4:30 p.m.
• Location: MOSAIC at Chatham Park 

The market features a wide array of vendors, including craft beverage selections from Hops & Berry Taproom and Red Moose Brewing Company, alongside delicious bites from food trucks. Plus, enjoy a special acoustic performance by local favorite Big Time Shine!

Get ready to ring in the holiday season with the annual Pittsboro Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 8. This beloved community tradition promises an afternoon filled with holiday-themed floats, twinkling holiday lights, fun costumes and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Local groups and businesses will showcase their creativity and holiday spirit as they march through town, making this parade a wonderful way to celebrate the season with family and friends.

• Date: Sunday, December 8
• Time: 3 p.m.
• Location: Downtown Pittsboro

Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets, as seating will not be provided. Groups and businesses interested in joining the parade can now register online. Celebrate the magic of the season at Holiday in the Park at Northwest District Park in Chatham County. This free, family-friendly event offers a delightful mix of indoor and outdoor activities for everyone! 

The evening kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony at 5:15 p.m., followed by a variety of fun, spirited activities, including pictures with Santa, a cozy hayride, holiday-themed games and crafts, candy canes, warm drinks, carolers and letters to Santa. This year, there’s an exciting new addition—a Holiday Market! Local vendors will be showcasing their crafts, goods and gifts, perfect for holiday shopping.

• Time: 5-8 p.m. 
• Location: Northwest District Park

Teens in grades six and up are invited to kick off the winter holiday season with a fun and festive evening at the Teen Craft Exchange & Holiday Party, happening on December 17, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Chatham Community Library in Pittsboro.

This event is a great opportunity for teens to share a craft they’ve made, learn something new, enjoy snacks and connect with others as they celebrate the season. The Teen Craft Exchange & Holiday Party will take place in the Holmes Family Meeting Room, and best of all—no registration is required. The event is free and open to all teens in grades six and up.
