Thanksgiving Made Easy: Local Feasts To-Go

This Thanksgiving, local favorites are making holiday meals easier with scratch-made dinners, takeout feasts, and community gatherings. From The Root Cellar’s traditional-with-a-twist offerings to Weaver Street Market’s complete turkey dinners, there’s something for every table and every appetite.

The Root Cellar is taking the stress out of Thanksgiving this year with scratch-made dinners that highlight traditional flavors and a few creative twists. Guests can order the full holiday meal, select sides, or let The Root Cellar handle dessert.
Special Meal for Four – $175 Customers may choose oven-roasted turkey, cranberry red wine-braised brisket, or butternut squash lasagna. Each meal includes classic herb gravy, three sides, and either pumpkin or apple pie.
Meals for One – $20 For smaller gatherings, The Root Cellar offers individually packaged meals featuring turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and gravy, ready to heat and serve.
Ordering Details
- Orders must be placed by noon on Monday, November 17 (early ordering is encouraged).
- Pickup is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Locations include Chapel Hill and Pittsboro.

The Quiltmaker Cafe invites the community to its 4th annual Donate-What-You-Can Thanksgiving Dinner. Local chefs and restaurants will provide a buffet-style meal featuring traditional favorites along with vegetarian and vegan options. The open house will take place on Thursday, November 27, from 12 –4 p.m. at 75 W. Salisbury Street in Pittsboro, the future home of The Quiltmaker Cafe (formerly Postal Fish Co). No reservations are required; everyone is welcome to share in this holiday tradition.

This holiday season, 39 West Catering is offering a full “Heat & Serve” Thanksgiving Dinner designed to make gatherings effortless and delicious. Each meal serves 4–6 guests for $185 and includes turkey (white and dark meat), cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, smoked gouda mac & cheese, orange cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, red skin mashed potatoes, and a choice of pumpkin, apple, or pecan pie. An optional wine pairing is available for $25.
Orders must be placed by Thursday, November 20, with pickup scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 39 West Catering, located just behind Forest Hall.

Fearrington Village is offering a special boxed feast for Thanksgiving 2025, designed for two guests to enjoy at home. Priced at $185, the multi-course meal includes Parker House rolls, Tuscan white bean stew, pickled shrimp, honey roasted turkey, turkey leek and mushroom pie, herb and chestnut stuffing, cranberry-orange sauce, sage and sherry gravy, a variety of seasonal sides, and a decadent pumpkin cheesecake with ginger snap crust and whipped Dulcey ganache.
Wine lovers can add a pairing of one white and one red bottle for an additional $25. Orders must be placed online by Wednesday, November 19, with pickup scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at The Fearrington Barn. Availability is limited, and early ordering is encouraged.

Time-Out, located at 201 East Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, offers an extensive holiday catering menu designed to make seasonal gatherings simple and satisfying. Guests can choose from two dinner bundles: the Regular Holiday Bundle ($171.99), serving 4–6 people, or the Large Holiday Bundle ($305.99), serving 8–12 people. For smaller portions, a single serving Hand-Sliced Roast Turkey Dinner with two sides and bread is available for $11.99.
The Regular Holiday Bundle includes a 12–14 lb. whole turkey (roasted or fried), two quarts of sides, one quart of gravy, one quart of stuffing, half a dozen yeast rolls or cornbread, one gallon of tea (sweet or unsweetened), and a whole pecan or sweet potato pie.

Weaver Street Market, with locations in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and Raleigh, is offering a variety of holiday meal options to simplify Thanksgiving celebrations. Choices include complete holiday dinners, all-natural turkeys, side dishes, holiday meats, desserts, rolls, and vegan and vegetarian selections.
The Complete Turkey Dinner for 6–8 people is priced at $154.99 and features a Diestel Family Ranch antibiotic-free pre-roasted turkey (11 lb. average cooked weight), traditional mashed potatoes, crunchy sweet potato bake, apple pecan stuffing, roasted root vegetables, soft dinner rolls, homemade turkey gravy, and fresh cranberry relish.
Orders must be placed by Sunday, November 23, at 9 p.m., with pickups available from November 22–29. Weaver Street also offers fresh, whole all-natural turkeys at $2.29 per pound.
