The Joy of Gingerbread
Time to say “goodbye” to your jack-o’-lanterns and “hello” to your favorite holiday decorations. As November leads into December, fill your calendar with the many seasonal activities going on in the Chatham County area. For starters, we hope to see you at The Root Cellar’s Gingerbread Decorating events throughout the month of December. Additionally, they will be offering pre-ordered, scratch-made Thanksgiving dinners to kick off the holiday season. For the next two months, and beyond, The Root Cellar invites you to make yourself right at home.
The Root Cellar is located at 35 Suttles Road in Pittsboro, NC.
Gingerbread Decorating:
The Root Cellar in both Pittsboro and Chapel Hill be hosting three gingerbread house decorating events throughout three Sundays in December – the 2nd, 9th and 16th. For kids and adults of all ages, there is no level of skill required here – simply a spirited sense of fun! All gingerbread houses and decorations will be provided onsite, so no need to bring your hammer and nails…or icing and gumdrops. While watching the construction commence, grab a glass of your favorite wine or a bite of dessert and enjoy!
Each ticket purchased includes the decoration of one house. Tickets can be purchased for $25. A lot cheaper than a home mortgage too!
Thanksgiving Dinner:
Now, onto some more edible fun! The Root Cellar is encouraging you to put down the pots and pans this year and let them cook for you! Their classic, scratch-made Thanksgiving dinners give home cooking a whole new meaning. Simply place your dinner order and pick it up without the fear of burnt pie or a dry turkey in sight. Order the entire meal, just a few sides or maybe even the dessert on its own. They say it best, “It’s your dinner, we’re just here to make it easier for you.”
Take a fork to your favorite Thanksgiving recipes and dishes, with a not-so-traditional Root Cellar twist. Cap the night by adding a bottle of wine or a sweet snack to your order. Now, that’s something to be grateful for. From oven-roasted turkey, to cornbread sage stuffing, green bean casserole and Mama Plast’s classic pumpkin rolls, this will be a holiday tradition in the works.
If you’re looking for an entire meal for four people, you can purchase it for $125. The meal includes: herb-roasted turkey breast, classic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, Classic Root Cellar herb gravy, cranberry orange relish and a mini pumpkin pie. Don’t you wish this could be the menu every night?
All orders must be placed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th. Pickups are on Wednesday, November 21st, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. To place your order for pickup at the Pittsboro location, please call (919) 542-1062.
