Chatham County Farmers Markets

Chatham County, NC -Farmer’s markets across the county will be opening soon. Here’s a run-down of major markets where you can go to go to buy fresh fruit and vegetables in Chatham County.

Chatham Mills Farmers’ Market

Open Saturday’s beginning April 14th from 8 am – 1pm. Chatham Mills Farmers’ Market is a growers-only market located in downtown Pittsboro. This will be their second year, after a very successful 2011. They carry the best local produce, meat, farm crafts and foods from more than 25 vendors from Chatham, Randolph, Alamance and Orange counties.

Fearrington Farmers’ Market

Open Tuesdays beginning April 5th from 4:00 pm to early evening. Local farmers come with their specialties of fruits, vegetables, the highest quality meats, bread, flowers, baked goods, homemade jellies and jams. You can get everything you need for the perfect meal in one spot straight from the farm. What could be better?

Fearrington Farmers’ Market – Fearrington Village, Hwy. 15/501, Pittsboro, NC.

Goldston Grower’s Market

This market opens on Wednesday May 2nd and will be open every Wednesday from 3:30  – 6:30 pm until the end of September. Goldston Growers’ Market is focused on providing high-quality locally grown produce and products such as farmer grown vegetables, fruits, eggs, meats, honey, dried flowers,handmade soaps, pickles, relishes, jams and jellies.

Pittsboro Farmers’ Market

Opens Thursday, April 5th from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and every Thursday after until November. The Pittsboro Farmers’ Market was started in 1997 as a collaborative effort on the part of local farmers, the Chatham County Cooperative Extension Service, the Chatham County Fair and local residents. All venders are withing a 50 mile radius of Pittsboro.

The Pittsboro Farmers’ Market is a “Producer Only” market, which means that the vendors may only sell the items they grow or produce. Not only does this market carry items from local farmers, but also from local crafts people, and businesses as well.  You’ll find all kinds of seasonal fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats, cheeses, wine, gluten free baked goods, jams, jellies, relishes, pickles, and ornamental plants.

Pittsboro Farmers’ Market – Located at The Chatham County Fairgrounds, Pittsboro, NC

Siler City Farmers’ Market

Opening day is Saturday April 7th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The Siler City Farmers’ Market was formed to fill the void in Saturday markets. Folks in this area had to go out of the county to get fresh produce, and farmers had to do the same to sell.

All of their venders are located within 50 miles of Siler City, so most purchases made at the market are grown or made locally. They carry many seasonal fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats, baked goods, jams, jellies, relishes, pickles, flowers, and crafts as well as occasional seafood from the coast.
