It’s official, the Chatham County Parks and Recreation Guide for Summer 2023 is available now! Your go-to guide for all recreation activities this summer is at your fingertips. Online registration is now open for your favorite seasonal events and celebrations. Reserve your space online!

Dog Days

On Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Chatham County Parks and Recreation hosts this free event for you and your dog at The Park at Briar Chapel. From animal-themed vendors to a trick contest to a dog owner look-alike contest, there’s an activity for everyone, dog or human! Admission is free, just make sure your pup is always on a leash. Have a doggone good time!

Pollinator Week Celebration

There’s no better way to celebrate Chatham County’s natural resources than by stopping by Pollinator Week Celebration! This environment-themed event will take place at Northeast District Park on Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Free for everyone, enjoy nature-based programming and a celebration of Year of the Trail.

Movies in the Park

Is there anything more magical than a summer night under the stars? Hosted at The Park at Briar Chapel, Friday nights are for free outdoor movies! Bring your own chairs, snacks, chairs and blankets!

  • August 25 at 8 p.m. – Lightyear
  • September 8 at 7:30 p.m. – Frozen II
  • September 22 at 7:30 p.m. – Coco
  • October 13 at 7 p.m. – Hotel Transylvania

Puppies and Pedals Bike Parade

On Saturday, July 1, celebrate Independence Day at The Park at Briar Chapel! Staging and decorating starts at 9:15 a.m., the dog costume parade will start at 10 a.m. and the bike parade kicks off at 10:15 a.m. While bike decorating supplies will be available onsite, participants are encouraged to bring their own additional touches. Dog costumes will not be provided, so make sure your pup is dressed to impress!

Admission is free; however, preregistration is recommended!

National S’mores Night Celebration

On Thursday, August 10 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., take a seat around the campfire and once you perfect your s’more, enjoy music and play lawn games. Hosted at Southwest District Park, admission is free and online preregistration is recommended.
