Spoiler alert, the rumor you’ve being hearing about locally is true – Disney is coming to Chatham County!
Myth or Fact:
Walt Disney is Cryogenically Frozen
Nope, myth is debunked! According to Disney’s death certificate, he was cremated two days after his passing, making it impossible for him to be cryogenically frozen and stored underneath Disneyland’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction. His burial plot is located at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
You Cannot Buy Gum at Disney Parks
Sure, you can bring your own gum because you won’t find any there. In an effort to maintain the cleanliness of the park, park stores do not sell gum to visitors.
“Andy’s Coming”
If you happen to yell, “Andy’s coming,” while visiting the park, the Toy Story characters will drop to the ground and remain motionless. Employees confirm that, while this was once done for a promotion, it holds no merit on Disney grounds. That said, save your voice!
Johnny Depp Visits Adventureland in Disguise
While Disney animatronics are pretty convincing, there’s no way Johnny has ever replaced his robotic lookalike on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride.
Disney is Coming to Chatham County
The rumors are true – Asteria™ will be a 1,500-acre community, housing 4,000 single-family and multi-family homes. When will we have our fairytale ending? The completion of the development is projected for the end of 2027.
Storyliving by Disney™ has spent nearly four years securing their plans in Pittsboro, with the deal finalized in December of 2023. Now in its initial planning stages with Walt Disney Imagineering and DMB Development, the community will be marketed toward homeowners over the age of 55.
But will Johnny Depp be there? We can’t say for sure, but you’re guaranteed a park, clubhouse, wellness and recreation center, restaurant, sports courts, swimming pools, a community garden and a trail system. Developers seek to cultivate a community for those in search of new adventures, connections and knowledge. Green spaces and gathering spots will invite opportunities for connection among lifelong learners.
Their enrichment programs will include storytelling dinners, lessons with Disney artists and Disney-themed activities for all ages. Residents are provided a unique lifestyle, curated by Disney.
