As a Chatham County real estate agent, I get to watch our area grow and evolve in exciting ways. Every so often, a project comes along that feels truly extraordinary. That’s exactly the case with Asteria™, a newly announced Storyliving by Disney® community planned for Chatham Park, just outside Raleigh and right here in Pittsboro.

While the vision is still unfolding, what’s been shared so far offers an inspiring glimpse into a community where North Carolina’s natural beauty meets the storytelling magic Disney is known for.

Asteria™ is being envisioned as a place for people who are always curious, those who value lifelong learning, meaningful experiences and strong community connections. From thoughtfully designed gathering spaces to expansive green areas meant for neighbors to meet and linger, the focus is on living life fully and together.

The name Asteria™ reflects this sense of wonder. Inspired by the night sky, and the Carolina aster flower that thrives locally, the community is designed to feel woven into the surrounding landscape, encouraging residents to pause, reflect and imagine what’s possible.

What makes Asteria™ especially unique is the involvement of Disney Imagineers, the creative visionaries behind Disney parks and experiences around the world. Through Storyliving by Disney®, Imagineers collaborate with developers and builders to help shape communities that feel intentional, immersive and deeply connected to their surroundings.

Their role includes:

This isn’t about turning Pittsboro into a theme park, it’s about creating a beautiful, livable place that tells a story rooted in North Carolina, with a Disney touch guiding the overall vision.

Residents will have the opportunity to join the Second Star Club, a membership-based lifestyle and amenities hub designed to bring Asteria’s vision of exploration and lifelong learning to life.

Named as a nod to Peter Pan’s celestial compass, the club will feature Disney storytelling throughout, subtle references inspired by Walt Disney’s love of nature and imagination, with touches from beloved films like Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland and Bambi.

Planned club highlights include:

• A central green gathering lawn and event pavilion
• A state-of-the-art wellness center
• Longtable Lodge, a dedicated space for residents 55 and up
• Marquet Hall, a two-story signature restaurant with games, indoor/outdoor seating and community vibes
• The Studios, hands-on creative spaces equipped for woodworking, quilting and other crafts
• Lost Key Cottage, a whimsical, storybook-inspired home available for member events and overnight stays

In addition, residents can enjoy adult-only and family pools, playgrounds, tennis and pickleball courts, all designed to encourage connection and activity.

Programming Designed to Spark Curiosity

Club programming will be curated by Disney and organized into four thematic pillars:

• Disney Enrichment Programs, including workshops with local artists and learning experiences
• Disney Entertainment and Events, from movie nights to themed dinners and live music
• Health and Wellness Activities, such as outdoor yoga, nature hikes and culinary demos
