You’ve ordered the signature pumpkin spice latte at your favorite cafe. You’ve passed dozens of Halloween decorations in the aisles of the department store. You’ve even started thinking about costume ideas and exploring the internet for some unique inspiration. Fall is in the air and on your mind, but are you ready for Halloween?
This year, use our Chatham County guide to make sure that you are taking advantage of all the seasonal happenings going on in the area. With fun for all ages on the agenda, start making your after-work, weekend plans as soon as possible. There’s nothing scarier on Halloween than missing out on your favorite fall activities!
Phillips Farms of Chatham
Raised on both their Chatham and Alleghany County farms, Phillips Farms welcomes you to explore their wide range of seasonal products, from corn stalks, to mums, to decorative gourds, Indian corn and hay bales. Does it get more “fall” than that? Prices vary for pumpkins from $0.50 for small gourds to $30 for prizewinning-sized pumpkins. Located at 1282 Hanks Chapel Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312, pumpkins and fall produce will be available until October 31st.
Fearrington Village Pumpkinfest
On Tuesday, October 30th, meet 80 beautifully-designed and seasonally-inspired jack o’ lanterns, made my Fearrington Village’s own gardeners and chefs. Looking to take your pumpkin carving skills to the next level? Let their designs inspire you to tackle your own Halloween night creation! Nestled in the gardens around the Village Center, enjoy the pumpkin artwork with a cup of hot cider in your hand.
From 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., enjoy live music, bewitching brew stations and food! The Roost will be serving up beer, wine and pizza. Visit the Belted Goat from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. for dinner with a limited menu or grab a snack at Chef Bedford’s haunted hot dog and fried chicken stand! Don’t worry, it’s hauntingly good! Events hosted during the night include – spooky story time from McIntyre’s Books and musical guest, Chatham Rabbits, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Admission is free with concessions available for purchase. The Village Center will also welcome guests on Halloween night for a more casual evening. For more information: visit the site.
Oktoberfest in Siler City
Celebrate Siler City’s German Heritage, and the spirit of fall, on Saturday, October 6th at 100-131 S. Chatham Avenue in Siler City. The entire block will be closed for this seasonal celebration from 2 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Siler City Merchants Association, Siler City Development Organization, Oasis Open Air Market, Art Farm LLC and Silercity.org, meet, greet and eat with many of your neighbors and local vendors! Along with that pint glass in your hand, don’t forget to try a plate of Bavarian cuisine, play a few games and dance the polka.
Bring a chair and blanket to enjoy the outdoor weather, music and festivities! Admission is free with drinks and food truck concessions available for purchase onsite.
Celebrity Dairy Fall Festival
On Sunday, October 14th from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., join Celebrity Dairy for a nostalgic fall festival on their festive farm. Hop on a hayride through the goat and llama fields, as well as through the red and yellow leaves of the surrounding woods. Once you’ve made your rounds, time for some friendly competition with a game of cornhole, croquet or horseshoes with the goats as your cheerleaders. Along with the available arts and crafts sessions, Celebrity Dairy will be raffling off a one-night stay at the farm or a farm dinner for two, so you can start planning your return visit!
ARTober Fest
The festivals just keep on coming! Downtown Siler City will play host to both the ARTober Fest and NCAI Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 20th from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Presented by NC Arts Incubator, beware of all the treasures you may discover at the local artisan market. You also may want to watch out for the hauntingly talented Jim Avett and Contentment is Wealth musicians, with Duke Energy sponsoring musical performances. All the while, we hope you’ll paint your own pumpkin, visit any of the food trucks and grab a beer!
This Saturday of spook continues with the Halloween Bash, joined by Chapel Hill’s Radar’s Clowns of Sedation on the Rotary Stage from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Park your witch’s brook at the NCAI tent to show off your costume for the costume contest and enter into the 50/50 raffle.
PEANUTS The Great Pumpkin Patch Express
Whether you grew up watching Charlie Brown or not, this adventure will be guaranteed fun no matter your age! The PEANUTS gang is returning to the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad for one of their favorite times of year – Halloween. Themed after, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” story, your spirited trip will depart from the Bryson City Depot en route to the pumpkin patch. Once you arrive at the pumpkin patch, you’ll have a chance to meet Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy for a fall picture! For the next hour and a half, you’ll enjoy:
- Campfire marshmallows
- Coloring station
- Temporary tattoos
- Trick or treating
- Bouncy house
- Wagon rides

Ticket prices start at $56 for Adults (13 years old and up), $32 for Children (2-12 years) and complimentary for Infants (23 months and under).
