Briar Chapel Is Getting a New Addition

A new addition is coming to Briar Chapel! With the addition of Great Meadow, Briar Chapel, the Triangle’s largest green community, is getting a little bigger.

Great Meadow – soon to be the newest segment of the Chapel Hill neighborhood area – will connect six neighborhoods when it’s complete. It will give buyers access to new home designs, new builders, and (what I’m most excited about) a new, five-acre park.

About Briar Chapel:

Located in Chapel Hill, just north of Chatham County, Briar Chapel is a beautiful community for residents of all ages. Designers have gone to great lengths to ensure minimal environmental impact, including the preservation of nearly 900 acres of open space, slopes and streambeds, and thousands of trees. Also, all homes are built with rigorous green standards.

Briar Chapel’s 21 neighborhood parks make it a great area for families and fitness lovers, and with Jordan Lake only 12 miles away, water access is within a short drive. Neighborhood amenities include miles of trails, a Residents Clubpool and even a neighborhood scavenger hunt. If you’re still not convinced, you can try out the neighborhood yourself by becoming a Briar Chapel “Resident for a Day.” For information on the process, head here.

Great Meadow Park:

Perhaps the most inviting feature of the new Great Meadow development, this five-acre linear park will connect to the extensive Briar Chapel trail system and six neighborhoods. It will include a sensory garden and pathways, an amphitheater and stage. You’ll be able to enjoy the weather by using the outdoor exercise equipment, volleyball courts, outdoor ping-pong tables, playgrounds and a sand play area. Finally, you can relax at the tobacco barn, hammocks and swings. If that isn’t enough, there is also a proposed outdoor classroom.

The designers intend for it to bring the communities together through events and other activities hosted under an open-air pavilion.

Other Great Meadow features:

In addition to a more-connected community, Great Meadow will bring new builders and designs to Briar Chapel. Not that you should worry about any change in quality or environmental-friendliness – as designers have stated they will ensure top-notch rakings in both areas.

Also, as part of the announcement, Briar Chapel is offering pre-sale price incentives for those interested in Great Meadow. For information on that, go here.

Events:

The Great Meadow announcement is exciting news, but I understand if you want to explore Chatham County first. Before taking the plunge, it’s easy to get to know the area by attending one of these October events.

  • Parade of Homes, October 11 – 12 & 18 – 19: Tour the Briar Chapel neighborhood and visit the inside of several model homes.
  • TORC 6BC Endurance Race & Festival, October 11: The Triangle is also a great location for fitness lovers. Endurance events, such as this six-hour mountain bike race, happen nearly every weekend. Make the race a family event! In addition to mountain biking, there will be live music from local bands, kids’ activities, food trucks and beer from Carolina Brewery.
