Before you know it, school will be back in session and summer will be over. Take advantage of those long, warm days and spend them at your new favorite outdoor summer camp. With the help of this summer camp guide, you will leave no adventure unexplored!

Jordan Lake Boating Camp:

Looking to enhance your boating skills while making new friends along the way? Jordan Lake Boating Camp, for ages 9-14, in Apex offers summer day camps geared towards a passion for the water. With small groups of a 5:1 student to lifeguard certified staff ratio, campers will receive individualized help in practicing on kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards, fishing, navigating and boat driving. Daily themes range from real-world explorers and adventurers to pirates! The Junior Boating Camp, for ages 5-8, follows a similar curriculum on an age-appropriate level. All campers are provided with ample hydration and breaks from the sun, while wearing a life jacket at all times.

The Jordan Lake Boating Camp and the Junior Jordan Lake Boating Camp is Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Camp is in session for weekly periods between June 12th and August 18th.

The price for registration is $389 and includes unlimited ice water, a souvenir t-shirt and a daily organic Popsicle! Discounts are applied for siblings and multi-week registration.

The Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co. Summer Camp:

For ages 10-15, the Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co. offers paddle camps and adventure camps for all skill levels. While they recommend that campers be proficient swimmers by the start of the camp, campers can expect an enhanced sense of confidence in learning paddling techniques and outdoor skills as well. The Summer Adventure Camp offers half-day and full-day options geared towards involving kids in on-water and on-land activities. In developing teamwork skills and personal confidence, campers will spend their days learning outdoor skills, such as orienteering, shelter building and tree and plant identification.

The Summer Paddle Camp also offers half-day and full-day options, but is more focused on developing paddling skills in recreational kayaks and canoes. Campers will explore many areas of the Haw River, several islands and will learn about plants and animals on the way!

Half-day Adventure Camps are available from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Full-day camps are available from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Half-day Paddle Camps are from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or full-day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The half-day fee for both camps is $195/week per child and the full-day fee is $250/week per child.

Bikes & Barnyards Summer Camp:

Triangle Bikeworks and Abundance NC are teaming up for the 2017 Bikes & Barnyards Summer Camp in Pittsboro, NC. From June 12th – June 16th, with one overnight stay, campers will spend time learning lessons in leadership, health and wellness from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. However, this is no ordinary outdoor summer camp. Campers will have the opportunity to practice environmental stewardship and awareness through bicycle-related education programs. For ages 10-14, bike lovers from beginner to intermediate levels can learn new skills. On Thursday night, campers will have the chance to spend the night in the park and camp underneath the stars!

The price for campers ranges from $280-$300, but make sure to reserve your spot as early as possible!

Tinkering School NC Summer Camp:

Interested in an engaging, hands-on experience involving real tools, large-scale projects, farm animals and building? For ages 8-14, campers will join in on many projects focused on problem-solving and teamwork, with different projects being offered every week! Camps take place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., with extended hours also being offered. Don’t forget to also take a look at any one of their sister camps, all sharing one convenient drop-off location, Sun Star Farm Camp, Little Farmers Camp, Jordan Lake Boating Camp and Junior Jordan Lake Boating Camp.
