Adventures of the Cape Fear

Adventures of the Cape Fear

Cape Fear River Adventures is back and better than ever for its summer season leading explorers, just like you, through the beauty of the Cape Fear. Since last fall, the river has been struggling to combat the effects of Hurricane Florence, which brought severe flooding to many North Carolina regions. Recently, Cape Fear River Adventures announced the river is officially at a safe level for all of their trips to resume for the season.

From tubing, to kayaking and paddle boarding, your time to get out on the river is now! Join Cape Fear River Adventures for any one of your adventuring interests. Start checking off that bucket list.

Lazy River Tubing:

Now, what sounds better than floating down the river with an ice-cold lemonade in your hand? If you can’t come up with anything, then Lazy River Tubing may float your boat. Departing from the river shack in Lillington, you’ll float through two miles of wild habitat, a Class I rapid and a rock garden. That’s a better view than National Geographic on your television!

Because the Cape Fear River is a slowly moving river, anticipate that the trip could take up to five hours. It is recommended that tubers wear water shoes, as the bottom of the river could get rocky at certain points. At various parts of your journey, you will have to swim, walk or paddle – so be prepared and dress appropriately!

The price for an adult trip is $22 and $16 for children ages 3-12 years old. Make your reservations online.

Easy Float Kayaking:

Adventures of the Cape Fear

Looking for something that’s equally relaxing and a little more strenuous? Easy Float Kayaking may be calling your name. This adventure is perfect for experienced kayakers who are looking to wind down or beginner kayakers looking for a new challenge.

You’ll be exploring the same route as the tubers, but this time, expect your journey to take around two hours. Regardless of the time, make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and suitable clothing for river exploring. You are also welcome to bring your cooler along for the ride, it will fit perfectly in your canoe!

Pricing for a single kayak or paddle board is $34 and a two-person canoe or kayak is $59. Learn more.

10 Mile Challenge:

This could be your summer to set new goals for yourself. What better way to do that than the 10 Mile Challenge with Cape Fear River Adventures? With numerous Class I and Class II rapids on the horizon, your day is guaranteed to be packed with adventure around every river bend. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of opportunities to relax on calm sections of the water as well.

Groups of one to three kayaks should expect to spend about four hours on the water with larger groups needing to allot for more time. At the end of the route, the shuttle will bring your group, boats and equipment back to Lillington.

Sunset Paddle:

Explore the Cape Fear River at the most scenic time of day – sundown! Float along a shorter stretch of the river and listen to the tune of croaking frogs and chirping crickets. As far as the trek goes, you will paddle out to a distinctive rock formation and paddle back in to the starting point.
