Recreationally Speaking

Recreationally Speaking

Not only is exercise a beneficial tool for the body, it is also one for the mind! Exercise does not have to mean running countless laps around a track or lifting weights far too heavy than you’d like them to be. Enrollment for various youth and adult recreational programs is now open in Chatham County!

Here’s something you may not know – you use 200 muscles just to step forward once. Imagine how many muscles you could put to use in a softball game!

Chatham County Parks & Recreation:

“To create a system of parks, facilities and programs that foster the health, wellness and quality of place for all Chatham County residents.” That is the mission of Chatham County Parks & Recreation. You, being the residents, get to take advantage of those services.

Annually, the programs provided include basketball for adults (boys and girls), fast-pitch softball for girls, adult softball, t-ball for girls and boys, youth track and field, youth wrestling and youth tennis lessons. Their organization also supports programs managed by other organizations for youth football, soccer, baseball, kayaking and canoeing.

So what are you waiting for? Make this your decade to try new activities, make new friends and to challenge yourself!
